苗代づくり Making of a rice plant nursery

 今日は下ちゃんと二人で苗代づくり。

計算したら、畝をもう一つ作らないといけないことがわかりました。

溝掘りはふつうにしんどいです。

Today, I tried to make a rice plant nursery with my friend.

Calculating again, It turned out that we needed to make one more a ridge.

In order to make a ridge, we had to dig a trench around a ridge.

Working of digging tired us.

 溝に畦シートを入れて、水をひいてみました。

いい感じで水がたまっています。

We put a ridge sheets called "Aze sheet" into a trench and filled this area with water.

It looked good not to leak.

 お昼からは種まきの準備です。

種は一度ふるいにかけました。雑草の種がまだまじっていたからです。

もっと前にふるいにかけるべきでした。

Afternoon, we began to plant rice seeds.

We sifted rice seeds, because of getting rid of weed’s seeds.

I thought that I had to sifted them before germination of seeds.

 苗箱をずらっとならべました。

今年は全部で90枚。

We put seedling cases in two rows.

All of them were 90 cases.

 いよいよ種まきです。

散歩形式の種まき。

キレイに仕上がりました！

At last we began to plant rice seeds.

I planted them like taking a walk with dog.

It was completely finished.

 次は覆土作業。

散歩種まき機を使いたかったのですが、上手くいきませんでした。

去年は砂がしめっていたから上手くいかなかったので、今年は砂を乾かしていたのですが、やっぱりだめでした。

一枚一枚手まきです。

Next work was covering planted cases with sand.

We wanted to use the same tool by that we planted rice seeds, but we couldn't use it well.

Last year we also failed because of tool stopped up with wetting sand.

This year I tried to use dry sand, but I couldn't do.

So we covered cases with sand by our hand. 

 そして、次はネットの補修作業です。

苗代にかけるネットに隙間があると、スズメが入りこんでしまいます。

去年はスズメに苗代を荒らされたので、今年は先にネットの隙間を塞ぎました。

This is reparing net to cover a rice seeds nursery.

Last year I was annoyed that sparrows went into net and damaged nursery.

 最後に、水につかった苗床の高さを調整しました。

苗が均一に水につかるための大事な作業です。

今日はここまで。

明日、苗箱を苗代に運ぶ作業が残りました。

Finally we adjusted grand of ridges to water level. 

It is important work to soak seeds cases into water uniformity.

We will do remaining works tomorrow. 

家に帰るとチロの遊びの痕跡がありました。

毛糸玉を持ってきてそのまま立ち去った模様です。 

After I got home and I entered my room, I found a trace of playing by Chiro.

I thought Chiro brought a ball of wool and played with it.

仕事の後、奈良の御杖温泉に行きました。

途中に素敵な神社があったので、立ち寄ると、老木モンスターにでくわしました。

After we finished work, we went to "Mitsue Onsen" in Nara.

On the way we stopped by shrine, we happened to meet Monster of an old tree.
